Jon Jones and the UFC might be cooking something! It has been months since Jones defended his title against Stipe Miocic. Now, with Tom Aspinall waiting in the wings, things are getting more and more complicated. Despite much speculation, there has not yet been a definitive date announced for the same. However, with Jones reluctant to accept the fight, the UFC’s heavyweight title has been at a stalemate. However, all of that might change soon.
In a recent update, Jones pointed out that they are having a lot of things happen. Behind the scenes, Aspinall, Jones, and the UFC are all working extremely hard to set a date for the bout. Unfortunately, ‘Bones’ has not yet confirmed any dates. This was due to legal formalities, as the UFC holds the right to make the announcements.
“The UFC, I and Tom, we all got a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes… Right now, Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements. So I legally can’t really talk about it,” said Jones.

Surely, this update will ease the tension just a little bit. Although Dana White had earlier stated that the fight would definitely happen, things never really picked up pace. Now that it is certain that the UFC is trying to work it out, the dream matchup might become a reality soon. Meanwhile, not only the fans but also some of the UFC fighters have expressed their discontent on the matter, and Robert Whittaker is one of them.
Robert Whittaker Unhappy With The Jon Jones Situation
Whittaker is not impressed with how the UFC handles Jon Jones. In his appearance on the MMA Arcade Podcast, Whittaker opined that Jones is receiving a lot of flak for his approach. He was also quite amazed at how Jones was holding onto the belt despite being inactive for such a long time.
