Recently, reflecting on life outside the cage, ‘Bones’ shared that if he hadn’t become a fighter, he would’ve been working in the church or out on the streets helping troubled youth.

The UFC heavyweight champion earned that title through a legendary career that includes becoming a two-division champion and defeating other MMA greats like Daniel Cormier, Dominick Reyes, and many others. However, his recent remarks about working in a church and helping troubled youth may come as a surprise to fans who primarily associate him with his dominance inside the Octagon. In a conversation with Geoffrey Woo, ‘Bones’ shared,
“I believe I would either work in the church somehow or maybe with young men. Like troubled youth type of thing. I’ve definitely been through my share of controversies in my life. And I feel like I have a lot of knowledge to give to the youth.”

Jones believes that many of America’s problems stem from broken families. He points out that more young men are growing up without fathers and that homes are becoming less stable.

“Jon has a concern, ‘they (the UFC) don’t know what to do with me. If I’m not champion, and if Tom beats me and he doesn’t give me a rematch. Or they won’t guarantee me a rematch, what do they plan to do with me’?”
Sonnen mentioned that Jones questions why the UFC keeps the belt with him. He also suggests that the promotion may not have a clear plan for his future without it. With retirement on the horizon, Jones himself has also hinted at stepping away due to his age.
