The tension between Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards dates back to a heated backstage altercation at a UFC event in London in 2019. Now, in 2025, that bad blood still lingers. The former BMF champion is eyeing a comeback fight against Edwards, determined to settle their long-standing grudge inside the cage.
Masvidal and Edwards’ rivalry was never settled, with Masvidal claiming he accepted the fight, but Edwards declined. Now, with Masvidal planning a UFC comeback and Edwards on a two-fight losing streak, the matchup seems more likely than ever. Former BMF Champion believes a win over Edwards could give him a title shot.
“If the UFC wants to make this happen, give me the Leon fight, and then after that, I’ll fight whoever has that damn belt. I know Dana (White) is probably going to see this,” Masvidal said on Submission Radio.
The former welterweight champion recently suffered a loss to Sean Brady, which not only marked his second consecutive defeat but also cost him a chance to reclaim the title.

Speaking to Submission Radio, Masvidal called for the fight, confident that Dana White would take notice. The former BMF champion also took a jab at Edwards, labeling him as “fragile.”

“In every way, shape, or form. I know for one thing, he can’t wrestle me for five rounds. So, I don’t have to worry about the takedowns, and I know on the feet, he’s fragile compared to me,”Masvidal said.
Masvidal and Edwards’ rivalry began at UFC London in 2019 when Masvidal attacked him backstage. They were set to fight at UFC 269 in 2021, but Masvidal withdrew due to injury. Now, as he prepares for a comeback, Masvidal is determined to settle the score.
