Kamaru Usman is an absolute legend in the MMA world. For the longest time, he was considered the greatest welterweight of all time until Leon Edwards pulled off a major upset. Since then, Usman faced a tough run, going on a three-fight losing streak, including a dominant loss to Khamzat Chimaev. As a result, many began to doubt him and dismiss his legacy. However, with his recent comeback, Usman has silenced the critics and reminded everyone who he truly is.
At the post-fight presser, Usman says his short-notice fight against ‘Borz’ made fans forget about his elite wrestling skills. He admits he was dealing with issues going into the fight, but still stepped in on short notice. Usman feels the performance led people to become dismissive, brutal, and disrespectful, overlooking the dominant wrestling ability that made him a champion.
“I was dealing with something going into that one, but I took the fight on short notice, and because of that fight, they forgot I can fucking wrestle. They got dismissive and a little brutal and disrespectful,” he said.

Indeed, now it will be interesting to see who ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ faces next. With momentum back on his side, one more solid win could put him right back into title contention. The pressure is on, but if anyone can rise through it, it’s the former champion with a legacy to reclaim.
