An MMA reporter has opened up about the much spoken about Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinal fight. MMA Junkie’s reporter, Simon Samano, recently pointed out in an interaction that the fight is a matter of Jones’ legacy. Samano opined that Jones might risk leaving his legacy incomplete without the Tom Aspinall fight. While speaking on the ‘Overreaction Time,’ Samano stated that Jon Jones has done everything possible till the present day.
Looking at the long list of his past opponents, it is evident that Jones has stood the test of time. However, things might go wrong in an instance if he chooses to duck Aspinall.
Samano stated, “I think really to close out his legacy strong because listen – you talk about how he’s done it all, but he’s also done it all under a cloud of question marks surrounding his drug testing history. If you really want to put a stamp on being the GOAT, beat Tom Aspinall. Show that you are truly the undisputed heavyweight champ, because right now he is a very disputed heavyweight champ.”

Surely, the fight has been a long time in the making. Ever since Tom Aspinall won the Interim title, he has been on a mission to make Jones agree to a fight. But alas! It did not turn out to be fruitful till now. However, a recent game in UFC has likely changed the scenario for good.
Tom Aspinall Hopeful For A Jon Jones Fight

Recently, Jon Jones explored the possibility of getting into the octagon with Alex Pereira. As Pereira had quite a phenomenal run in 2024, Jones wanted to run it down with him. Interestingly, Dana White too, expressed his interest in the match becoming a reality. But something went horribly wrong recently. As Alex Pereira lost his title, Jones will now no longer be involved. This paves the way perfectly for Aspinall to fit in.
