Jon “Bones” Jones is back, and you can thank Donald Trump for that. Just two weeks after announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts, the UFC legend stunned fans by revealing he’s already re-entered the company’s drug-testing pool. The announcement came shortly after Trump floated a wild idea: a UFC fight card on the White House lawn for America’s 250th birthday next July.
“Fighting at the White House?” Jones posted on X. “Just re-entered the testing pool, that lasted for about two weeks. Figured we’d keep everyone’s options open.”
Jones Vs. Retirement? Retirement Tapped Out

Jones’ return feels like one of his classic comebacks. No buildup. No warning. Just a quick jab on social media and now everyone’s wondering if he’s about to headline a presidential backyard brawl.

It’s a sharp twist from last month when UFC President Dana White confirmed Jones wouldn’t defend his heavyweight belt. Fans, especially in the U.K., were crushed. The hype had been building for a heavyweight showdown between Jones and British star Tom Aspinall. Instead, Jones walked away, or so we thought.

Now, the same man who danced like Trump inside the Octagon at UFC 309 could be gearing up for what one fan called “the biggest fight in UFC history.” That dream matchup with Aspinall? Very much back on the table.
Trump’s ties to the UFC run deep. Dana White’s backed him for years, and Trump’s often seen ringside. After defeating Kamala Harris last November, he even had White speak at his Florida victory bash. So if Trump wants a UFC brawl on the South Lawn, don’t be surprised.
The timing fits. America’s 250th birthday lands on a Saturday next July, UFC’s go-to fight night. And if Jon Jones is back in the testing pool, he’ll be fight-ready well before then.
The Daily Mail reported they’ve contacted UFC officials for confirmation on Jones’ re-entry into the testing program. As of now, there is no official word, but Jones’ own post speaks loud enough.
He’s not retired anymore. Not really. And if the greatest heavyweight in UFC history wants one last dance on the most iconic lawn in the country, don’t count him out. Not when Trump’s holding the mic.
