
President Donald Trump announced plans to host a prominent sporting event at the White House in 2026 as part of the country’s celebration of 250 years of independence.
Donald Trump spoke during “America 250” at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Thursday night, 366 days before the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence from Britain.
During the event, Trump revealed plans for a UFC fight on the White House grounds as part of their America 250 celebration, per CNN:
“Every one of our national park battlefields and historic sites are going to have special events in honor of America 250. We’re going to have a UFC fight – think of this – on the grounds of the White House.”
A UFC source also told CNN they’re currently “in discussions with the White House” regarding a possible event at the president’s residence. You can watch the video of Trump’s announcement to the crowd below:

Donald Trump is widely popular among UFC officials and competitors. Company CEO and President Dana White has endorsed Trump in the last three elections, even donating $1 million to him in 2020.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan also endorsed Trump in the 2024 election, though he’s been more critical of the president during his second term in the White House. Former interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington and former interim Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje have also expressed support for Trump.
Donald Trump Has Attended Several Major Sporting Events During His Two Terms In The White House

A well-known and passionate sports fan, Trump attended Super Bowl 59 between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This made him the first sitting American President to attend a Super Bowl.
Trump attended the Pittsburgh Steelers-New York Jets game at Acrisure Stadium last October and Game 5 of the 2019 World Series between the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals, where he was heavily booed and heckled. The POTUS has also been at multiple UFC fights since defeating Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
