UFC middleweight star Robert Whittaker has recently commented on the Jon Jones situation. And quite expected, it’s not a pleasant one. The UFC heavyweight division recently witnessed a major controversy regarding the title unification fight. While Jones reigns as the undisputed champion, Tom Aspinall remains the interim champion. Over the last few months, calls for a fight between the two have mounted significantly. Unfortunately, with no news of the fight becoming official, the air of frustration has only elevated.
Whittaker recently appeared on the ‘MMA Arcade Podcast.’ Delving into Jon Jones’ topic, the middleweight star stated that Jones is getting a lot of hate for his approach. He further expressed his amazement about how ‘Bones’ is still holding onto the belt after being inactive for a long time.
“I’m done waiting… I don’t know how Jones still holds the title. I know I mentioned ‘no one is stripping Jones’, but mate come on, you’re taking the p**s now,” Whittaker said.

Now, Dana White has confirmed earlier that the bout will surely happen. It’s just the date that needs to be finalized. However, with almost half of the year now gone, fans and athletes alike are finding it utterly frustrating to wait for the fight to get official. Meanwhile, returning to Whittaker, ‘The Reaper’ also dropped an interesting prediction for the welterweight championship fight.
Robert Whittaker Makes Bold Jack Della Maddalena Prediction

Robert Whittaker thinks that Jack Della Maddalena might pull off a shocker. After winning the welterweight title from Belal Muhammad, Della Maddalena is on a roll. However, he will face the daunting task of defending his title against Islam Makhachev. Now, the consensus is that Makhachev will surely get past the Australian and become a two-division champion. But according to Whittaker, Della Maddalena has the potential to beat Makhachev.

“That’s always the question everybody asks when anybody is moving up or down a division, there are so many unknowns involved. But saying that, I think Islam can do everything that Belal does, but way better. I thought Jack handily had the fight, but it was a fight. I don’t think it’ll be an easy fight for Jack, but I believe in Jack. He’s got that X-factor, he’s got that hunger there. Just like with Belal, just like with Gilbert Burns, I think he can do the impossible,” said Whittaker on ‘Submission Radio.’
Thus, with a lot of interesting things to look out for, it now remains to be seen how things pan out in the future.
