Alex Pereira might no longer be the champion. However, that does not take away the fact that he was one of the most dominant champions in the history of UFC. After winning the title, Pereira’s best run came in 2024. Starting with Jamahal Hill, ‘Poatan’ defended his title three times. However, of all his title defenses, Glover Teixeira was recently asked about which one felt the most satisfying. And he had a surprising answer.
Appearing in a recent interview with ‘The Coach and The Casual,’ Teixeira was given two choices. He was asked to choose between Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill. Initially, Teixeira had a tough time choosing one particular fight, but ultimately, he went for Jamahal Hill.
“Just both, man. Both. Jamahal was maybe talking more sh*t, so maybe,” Teixeira opined.
Surely, it was indeed a tough choice. Pereira knocked out both Prochazka and Hill shortly after the start of the fight. While Prochazak was knocked out in the second round, Hill could not even stand the first. Meanwhile, despite his recent loss, Alex Pereira received some significant praise from his coach.
Glover Teixeira Ranks Alex Pereira Ahead Of Ilia Topuria

Alex Pereira might have had a rough day at the office at UFC 313. However, that does not change how Glover Teixeira perceives Pereira’s greatness. In a recent episode of ‘The Coach and The Casual,’ Teixeira compared the likes of Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira. While he praised Topuria for his fast hands, Teixeira gave Pereira the edge.

“Those guys, they great punchers, you know, like Topuria, he has incredible combination… I feel like he’s a great boxer, don’t get me wrong. [But] you can see Alex, the movement that he makes is almost like Mayweather… You see, sometimes Mayweather, like if you jab him, he [doesn’t] even move because he knows that jab is not going to hit him. The range is perfect…I just feel like Alex’s IQ for visual strategy is better,” said Pereira.
Thus, with things looking a bit rosy for Alex Pereira, it remains to be seen how things pan out for him in the future.
