Alex Pereira hates Dricus Du Plessis. Well, at least, that is what his coach, Morne Visser, thinks. After defending the belt against Israel Adesanya, Pereira feuded with Du Plessis last year. Expressing his desire to fight for the middleweight title, ‘Poatan’ had a fiery verbal back-and-forth with ‘Stillknocks.’ However, while the fight did not materialize, the heat between the two seems to be pretty much on.
In a recent appearance on ‘Submission Radio,’ Morne Visser doubled down on why Pereira might dislike Du Plessis. Taking a dig at the former light heavyweight champion, Visser stated that Du Plessis is an all-around fighter. Thus, Pereira might be jealous of his ability to fight anywhere.
“We really wanted to fight him. I think what he dislikes about Dricus is that Dricus can fight anywhere. MMA is a man’s sport, there’s a lot of ego involved. I think he was just jealous about Dricus being an all-round fighter,” said Visser.
Visser also threw shade on Pereira, criticizing his last match against Magomed Ankalaev. Du Plessis’ coach opined that Pereira only relies on his hook. And if that gets cut off, he looks quite boring like he did in the last bout. Meanwhile, speaking of Pereira’s previous fight, Magomed Ankalaev recently had strict words for Alex Pereira.
Magomed Ankalaev Challenges Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira might have lost his title. But he is itching to get it back on his waist once again. Right after the bout, Pereira hinted at an immediate rematch. And with the UFC realm unhappy with the judges’ decision to put the belt on Ankalaev, the possibility of a rematch looks pretty much on. However, in a recent statement, Ankalaev also warned Alex Pereira sternly.

“Alex, I am ready to give you a rematch, if you really want it. Just be prepared for a storm in the next fight, storm that you never faced in this sport,” said Ankalaev.

Thus, despite losing the title, Pereira is still pretty much in the limelight. It remains to be seen how things pan out in the future.
