Sometimes predictions do come true. And it does in the most pleasant manner. With UFC 315 now done and dusted, it is clear that Jack Della Maddalena has fulfilled his dream. Following a brutal beatdown of Belal Muhammad, Della Maddalena is now the new UFC welterweight champion. Surprisingly, all of this was foretold 10 years ago! And it was done by none other than his coach.
Ben Vickers, Della Maddalena’s coach, is currently on cloud nine. Catching up with an interview, Vickers shed light on what he made of Della Maddalena’s talent initially. To probe his point, Vickers stated that he had already predicted 10 years back that the Aussie would become a world champion fighter. He also praised Della Maddalena significantly while stating that he has not seen anybody matching his talent ever.
“I sent a message to somebody ten years ago saying, ‘If you’ve got a couple of bucks, put them on JDM to be world champ in ten years’ time,’ and here we are. I’ve known since I met Jack that he’s gonna be the best in the world. I’ve been in this sport for 30 years, and I’ve never seen anyone like him before,” said Ben Vickers.

Jack Della Maddalena can surely rejoice at the moment. However, he must also be wary of his future challenges coming up. Especially now that it is clear that Islam Makhachev will be next. Despite Della Maddalena oozing confidence, Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez broke down the possible fight. And needless to say, it wasn’t a pleasant one for the Aussie.

“Can he take Jack down? Absolutely, he can take Jack down. Can he outstrike Jack? Absolutely, he can outstrike Jack. But is it wise to outstrike him? I feel we can, but it may not be. It may be a better deal to do what Belal should have done — and that’s something I know Islam will do,” said Mendez.
