UFC President Dana White revealed one of the most exciting summer fights for fans to enjoy during the season. However, many fans were still hoping for the announcement of a much-anticipated bout between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. Meanwhile, Team Khabib’s coach, Javier Mendez, stated that the UFC would need to offer a substantial payday to convince Jon Jones to take on Tom Aspinall.
‘Bones’ has reportedly demanded a massive payday to face the English interim champion, with the amount said to be between $30–35 million. So far, the UFC hasn’t made any official announcement about the fight, White has only given fans a glimmer of hope by saying an announcement will come soon. Meanwhile, Mendez believes the promotion needs to meet the heavyweight champion’s financial demands to make the fight happen. In a recent interview with Tim Welch, Mendez said:
“Jon Jones is not the type of guy that likes to lose. He’s such a winner in every aspect of what he does that you’re not going to push him into a fight. If he doesn’t feel he can win that fight and doesn’t have a good advantage, he’s not gonna take it.”
Javier Mendez says Jon Jones won’t accept a fight unless he’s confident he can win.💯
