Tom Aspinall is no longer holding back from Jon Jones. It has been almost a year since Aspinall stepped inside the octagon. Beating Curtis Blaydes within a minute, Aspinall has been targeting a fight with Jon Jones. Unfortunately, with Jones continuously declining the fight, the unification of the UFC heavyweight belts could not happen. Now, with rumors about when the fight would take place swirling, Aspinall had a bold update to share.
The UFC interim heavyweight champion stated that Jon Jones is done fighting. In a recent conversation with Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen, Aspinall claimed that Jones was retired. He also put the title of being the undisputed heavyweight champion on himself, saying that he is ready to get the division active once more.
“Nah man, Jon’s retired… you guys don’t follow Jon on social media?… I’m the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. I’m ready to get this division moving again,” said Aspinall.

“As far as I know, the UFC still wants to make the Jones vs Aspinall fight. So far, that’s not the option they consider, but our team keeps it in mind,” said Volkov.
