Tom Aspinall has already vowed to be an active champion. Waiting for almost a year, his last fight was against Curtis Blaydes. Winning the bout in the first round itself, Aspinall strengthened his cause to fight for the undisputed belt. Unfortunately, despite a lot of back and forth, Jon Jones refused to accept the challenge. Now that ‘Bones’ has retired, Aspinall has the onus on him to take the division forward.
Now then, Aspinall already mentioned that he will be an active champion. Doubling down on his narrative further, the new heavyweight champion provided further clarification. Aspinall mentioned in a recent interaction that he would like to fight twice this year. The new heavyweight champion stated that he is in talks and a fight will be booked soon. If he manages to defend his title successfully, he plans to come back again by the end of the year.
“I’m gonna be fighting hopefully twice this year. I have wasted enough time now. We’re looking to get a fight booked quick, and it’s looking like it’s gonna be pretty soon. I would like to fight at the end of the year as well,” said Aspinall.

Now, this is quite a major announcement from Aspinall. For a long time, Jon Jones was accused of being inactive as a champion. With ‘Bones’ retired and Aspinall eager to fight, fighters like Ciryl Gane and more will have the opportunity to challenge for the title.
