Tom Aspinall has been in the news for a fairly long time. Hyping up his bout against Jon Jones, Aspinall has been actively sharing his opinions on various matters. However, recently, the UFC interim heavyweight champion had his feelings heard about the recently concluded UFC 313. And it is quite the opposite of what the consensus is. Aspinall thinks that Magomed Ankalaev has done enough to be rightly called the champion!
The UFC 313 main event was a lackluster affair. Both fighters seemed very cautious in their approach. Especially for Pereira, the former champion did not press forward and tried to create pressure on Ankalaev. On the contrary, Ankalaev did have his moments when he rocked Pereira several times. But his multiple failed takedown attempts added more to fans’ boredom. Thus, fans lashed out when the judges’ scorecard gave the Russian fighter the win, favoring Pereira.
However, Tom Aspinall does not think so. In fact, he thinks Ankalaev was the deserving winner of the bout. He also stressed that those doubting Ankalaev do not know much about MMA!
“I can’t believe people watched that fight and thought that Pereira won. It’s just wild to me how many uneducated fans are out there,” said Aspinall.
