It seems that Tom Aspinall will not stop until he gets into a fight with Jon Jones. For a long time now, fans have speculated about a fight between Jones and Aspinall. Ever since Aspinall won the UFC interim heavyweight championship title, it was expected that Jones would fight to unify the belts. Unfortunately, that did not happen. ‘Bones’ constantly ignored Aspinall and confirmed a bout with Stipe Miocic instead.
This further angered Aspinall as well as the fans. And when the new year too, did not bring any confirmed news, Aspinall is now venting out his frustrations further. In a recent update posted on social media, Aspinall mentioned how things are standing at a stalemate from Jones’ end.
“What is holding it up right now is [Jon’s] side. That’s the truth of it…Remember what I said… ‘I will retire Jon Jones without even fighting him,’” said Aspinall.

Surely, this is quite a claim from the interim heavyweight champion. But despite all the noise, Jon Jones seems to have moved on from the fight. He has expressed interest in fighting Alex Pereira instead.
Jon Jones Wants Alex Pereira Next?
Jon Jones does not look like he wants to face Tom Aspinall anytime soon. In a recent social media post, Jones shared an image of Alex Pereira. The caption of the post was that of Pereira wanting a fight with the UFC heavyweight champion next.
Thus, sharing such an image might be hinting that Jones is now inclined towards facing Pereira next. However, for that to happen, Pereira would need to transition to the heavyweight division. At the moment, ‘Poatan’ will be dealing with the threat of Magomed Ankalaev next.
