Soon after becoming champion, Aspinall posted a video reflecting on his thoughts. The champion acknowledged and extended his gratitude to all who supported him. Aspinall also pointed out how he was inactive all these days without any fault of his own. Speaking about his title defense, the English fighter vowed to defend the belt as often as possible. Putting his opponents on notice, Aspinall promised to become the best heavyweight champion in UFC history.
“I am going to keep this thing as active as possible, I want to be the best heavyweight ever to walk the face of the earth, I’m going to defend this thing as many times as I possibly can, I’m going to keep you guys entertained,” said Aspinall.

Surely, this will be an interesting prospect to ponder. With Jones now gone, several heavyweight contenders will fancy their chances. Alexander Volkov and Ciryl Gane will be the primary candidates in line to challenge Aspinall. However, a new challenger emerged soon after Aspinall was crowned champion.
Jailton Almeida Calls Out Tom Aspinall
It was believed that the most obvious matchup would be between Ciryl Gane and Tom Aspinall. However, as per Jailton Almeida, he wants to face Aspinall next ahead of the Frenchman. Almeida recently stated that Gane had a questionable win against Volkov and also pointed out how he avoided an earlier faceoff with Aspinall. Soon after Aspinall became the champion, Almeida wished him and called him out.
