The UFC heads back to Mexico City this Saturday, March 29, for a Fight Night event at Arena CDMX. Former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno takes on top contender Steve Erceg in the main event. Moreno recently broke his two-fight losing streak with a decision win over Amir Albazi, while Erceg looks to do the same. Ahead of the fight, a UFC commentator raised concerns about the pressure Moreno faces fighting at home.
As Moreno prepares for his upcoming fight against Steve Ercge, UFC commentator Felder talks about the pressure of being the face of Mexican MMA. He says, given everyone will be watching him in his home country, which adds a lot of stress. Moreno likes having his own team, but it can be expensive. He says while some fighters shine with the crowd behind them, others might struggle with the weight of expectations. It’s an exciting but tough time for him.
He said,
“He’s being put on the face of Mexican MMA and they want him there so much to draw attention, and that brings a lot of pressure to it…[Moreno] likes to have his own team and camp around him. Then it’s the financial burden… A main event somewhere else, it’s not as big a deal for him. He can kind of slip under the radar and just do the media.”
How Did Brandon Moreno Save The UFC Flyweight Division?

At UFC 256, Brandon Moreno faced Deiveson Figueiredo in an all-out war. Dana White noted that Moreno idolized boxing legend Julio César Chávez and wanted to follow in his footsteps. After the fight, White called both men absolute savages and praised their performance as one of the greatest in flyweight history.
