Mexican Independence Day holds special significance for the UFC, and the organization consistently schedules an event around that time. Last year, fans witnessed one of the most significant and most expensive UFC events ever at the Las Vegas Sphere—UFC 306, also known as UFC Noche. Now, excitement is building once again as the UFC has officially announced that Diego Lopes vs Jean Silva will headline this year’s Noche UFC event.
Dana White officially announced the matchup on Instagram. Former title challenger Diego Lopes enters the fight with a professional record of 26 wins and 7 losses. The Mexican fighter is coming off a recent loss to Alexander Volkanovski in a featherweight title bout. On the other side, Brazil’s Silva holds a record of 16 wins and 2 losses and remains undefeated in the UFC.
Interestingly, both fighters competed on the same card where Lopes fought for the title. Silva impressed fans by submitting Bryce Mitchell in that outing. However, this exciting matchup will serve as the main event for the UFC’s annual celebration of Mexican Independence Day.
The third edition of Noche UFC will take place on September 13 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. The event continues to honor the deep-rooted contributions of Mexican fighters to the sport. Additionally, fans can expect more Mexican stars to feature prominently on the card.
Jean Silva Believes His UFC Stats Prove He’s Ready For The Top Contenders

The rise of “fighting nerds” in the UFC continues, and Silva is leading the charge. After a dominant submission win over Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314, the undefeated Brazilian believes he’s ready for a title shot. Boasting a 100% finish rate, Silva was eyeing Alexander Volkanovski, who defended his featherweight belt that night against Diego Lopes.

Not backing down, Silva shared a stat comparison between himself and Evloev, pointing out the latter has only fought nine times since debuting in 2019. He added: “I’m thinking here after I respectfully said that I wanted to face Volk next. That a bunch of guys that nobody cares about. Showed up and start to talk about that fight too. I’m definitely in the right way.”
Meanwhile, the Brazilian is ready to put on a show against Lopes at Noche UFC. With both fighters known for their elite striking, this matchup promises to deliver fireworks and could be one of the most thrilling bouts of the year.
