Merab Dvalishvili has done it again. Reigning the bantamweight division, Dvalishvili faced off against Sean O’Malley in a much-awaited rematch. And while there were high expectations from O’Malley coming into the fight, it all fizzled out soon. Putting on an incredible performance, ‘The Machine’ took the victory yet again. And all of this was already bound to happen. At least, that’s what UFC heavyweight star Tom Aspinall has to say.
Dissecting the bantamweight rematch, Aspinall stated that O’Malley’s fall was inevitable. And it was all because of a simple reason. Dvalishvili and O’Malley are stylistically mismatched. According to the heavyweight interim champion, Dvalishvili’s style of fighting does very little to help O’Malley. Thus, every time the duo meets, catastrophe would be guaranteed for ‘Suga.
“After Round 2, in all honesty, Sean O’Malley just didn’t seem to really want to be there. Merab’s style just doesn’t work for Sean O’Malley. He outstyled Sean twice,” said Aspinall.

“2. raunttan sonra dürüst olmak gerekirse, Sean O’Malley orada olmak istiyormuş gibi görünmedi. Merab’ın tarzı Sean için hiç uygun değil. Merab, Sean’ı iki kez stil anlamında alt etti.” pic.twitter.com/HS1xwhCSaD
Surely, the way Dvalishvili upskilled himself was incredible. Known to be a grappler, the champion showed some impressive boxing skills that caught O’Malley off guard. He even went on to secure a submission, which was a first time for Dvalishvili. Meanwhile, coming back to Tom Aspinall, he is looking quite determined to take the heavyweight division forward.
UFC Heavyweight Tom Aspinall Reiterates ‘Retirement’ Claims About Jon Jones

Aspinall waited a long time to face Jon Jones. Jones’s reluctance meant that the interim champ has been inactive for almost a year. Determined to take the division forward, Aspinall recently pointed out that Jones is done fighting. Aspinall reiterated this to put further emphasis on the same.

“I want to keep my job. I don’t want to say too much. People think I’m joking, but it’s the truth — Jon is retired. I’m not the kind of guy to pull any media stunts or anything like that. What I’m saying is the truth, and it will be announced pretty soon as far as I’m aware,” said Aspinall.
