Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is a fight that has been teased for a long time. While Aspinall has tried to get an official confirmation for the same, Jones seemed extremely reluctant to make the fight official. Last year, Jones decided to go one-on-one against Stipe Miocic. And now, when Dana White ignited the possibilities of a bout happening between the two, Jones has asked for at least 6 months’ time. And this is something UFC journalist Ariel Helwani finds disturbing.
In a recent episode of ‘The Ariel Helwani Show,’ Helwani stated that UFC doesn’t seem to care about Tom Aspinall’s timeline. Jones’s taking six months to prepare means Aspinall needs to wait eight more months.
“That worries me. Because, if they tell Tom, ‘Please just sit tight, you’re getting this fight. You’re just gonna have to wait couple months.’ And then he waits those months, and then it doesn’t happen. Sound familiar? Chandler-McGregor? And then what does he do?” Helwani said.
What worries me is that the UFC tries to save Jones x Aspinall for MSG in November. If they tell Tom to wait 8 more months and then something falls through… Does this sound familiar? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/1XUW0XwboW

“I think really to close out his legacy strong because listen – you talk about how he’s done it all, but he’s also done it all under a cloud of question marks surrounding his drug testing history. If you really want to put a stamp on being the GOAT, beat Tom Aspinall. Show that you are truly the undisputed heavyweight champ, because right now he is a very disputed heavyweight champ,” said Samano.
