Tom Aspinall has been very vocal about Jon Jones avoiding a fight with him for the UFC heavyweight title unification. From calling Jones a “duck” to bringing an actual duck to the UFC London event and showing it on the celeb cam, he has openly mocked the champion. Amid all the talk and accusations, Chael Sonnen stepped in to defend Jones, claiming that he hasn’t been dodging Aspinall. According to Sonnen, Jones has yet to receive an official fight offer from the UFC.
Chael Sonnen addressed rumors about Jon Jones potentially fighting Tom Aspinall, stating that Jones would not refuse the fight. However, he claimed that the UFC has not officially offered it yet. According to Sonnen, there has been no discussion about a date or venue, and no formal proposal has been made. While many assume the fight is in the works, Sonnen suggested that it hasn’t reached that stage.
He said, “Jon Jones will not turn that fight down. Jon has not been offered that fight. That’s the monster in the closest people seem to not want to be true. There has not been a suggestion of a date or a venue. Not yet. In a phone call to Jon, where his opponent would be Tom (Aspinall), the undisputed title.”
