UFC veteran Chael Sonnen recently sparked excitement among fans by dropping a major rumor that a fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall had been booked. However, he has now clarified that the heavyweight title bout isn’t finalized after all, leaving fans confused and uncertain about what’s really happening.
Sonnen initially claimed that Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall was a done deal, complete with a confirmed date. But now, he’s backtracking, saying he believed it to be true at the time but can’t confirm it anymore. Sonnen confirms Aspinall’s next fight is set, but it may be against Ciryl Gane, not Jones, for the interim title. Talking on his YouTube channel, the UFC Veteran said,
“I might have said that. It would be real easy to know, I film everything and put it out. But one thing I do know I told you word for word for word for word, I told you Tom Aspinall’s next fight is done, but I don’t know that it will be against Jon Jones.” Sonnen also added, “The current plan right now, Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane for the interim championship.”
The Aspinall vs. Gane fight remains unannounced, and ongoing UFC PPV delays are leading fans to expect further hold-ups for heavyweight matchups. The uncertainty continues to fuel speculation across the MMA community.

Cejudo shared with MMA Junkie, “Joe Rogan just came up with the whole $30 million deal, keep it at $30 million, he just helped you. This is what should be the storyline. If they’re willing to give Khabib Nurmagomedov $40 million, what is the greatest of all time worth?”
