Former French and Manchester United star Patrice Evra has decided to switch professions. After hanging up his football boots, Evra is all set to debut in the MMA realm via the PFL. With his highly anticipated bout coming up on May 23, 2025, the former French professional is seeking the help of the best of the best. In a recent update, Evra has been spotted conversing with Khabib Nurmagomedov for help.
Evra could be heard telling Khabib that he must seriously train for his fight. And for that, he wants to have a training session with the Dagestani legend. After all, who better to learn MMA from other than the undefeated UFC star himself? Much to Evra’s delight, Nurmagomedov agreed.
“Send location,” said Nurmagomedov. “Tell me where you are. When I see you, you have to be ready, and that’s it. I’m going to teach you how to smash people.”

Surely, learning from Khabib will do Evra a world of good. After retiring from the sport, he indulged himself in coaching budding talents. Some of his star pupils include Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov. However, despite the big names seeking help from Khabib, one particular UFC newcomer had some contradictory opinions to share.
Aaron Pico Says Khabib Nurmagomedov Is Not The Best From Dagestan

Khabib Nurmagomedov established a new brand of fighting in the UFC. Remaining undefeated in his MMA career, it was Khabib who brought the Dagestani style of fighting to prominence. However, when signing up with the UFC recently, Aaron Pico mentioned that Nurmagomedov is not the best Dagestani out there. In fact, there are a lot of other wrestlers who are far better than Nurmagomedov.

“Islam and Khabib are great wrestlers. They really are in MMA wrestling. But people don’t realize that where they come from, they’re not at the highest level at all. … They’re, maybe, not even in the top 30 and top 50,” said Pico.
Thus, it is evident that Khabib Nurmagomedov still remains pretty much relevant even after his retirement. Now, it remains to be seen if he can keep the same amount of intrigue around him in the upcoming days.
