Alexander Volkanovski has surely etched his name in the UFC history books. Making one of the biggest comebacks, Volkanovski was able to get the better of the ferocious Diego Lopez. At UFC 314, ‘Volk’ looked quite sharp and was on the offense for most of the bout. Despite getting rattled only once, it was all Volkanovski in UFC 314. Reclaiming the UFC featherweight crown, ‘Volk’ seems to have added some more admirers to his list. And the latest being Yair Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, who also won his bout against Patricio Pitbull, stated that he was awed after watching Volkanovski. In a recent interview with ‘MMA Junkie,’ Rodriguez stated that the Australian is the best in the 145 pounds category at the moment. Despite him losing to Topuria earlier, Volkanovski is now a lot more mature.
“I also believe Volkanovski is one of the greatest of all time, and he has shown that. He has shown that for many years now, and I am happy to face this new Volkanovski, because he’s also been doing some changes on his diet, you know? And I think he’s motivated. I can’t wait to face him, this new version of himself, said Rodriguez.
Surely, this must have sounded like music to Volkanovski’s ears. Afterall, Yair Rodriguez and Alexander Volkanovski do have a history in the past. Back in UFC 290, it was Volkanovski who handed a TKO loss to Rodriguez. Meanwhile, ‘Volk’ himself is looking to face an entirely different opponent.

Yair Rodriguez might have expressed his wish to fight Alexander Volkanovski. But the champion does not seem to reciprocate the same feelings. After his dominant victory, ‘Volk’ is looking to get himself tested against an undefeated contender in the UFC. And it is none other than Movsar Evloev.

Right after his big win, the Australian fighter was asked who he wanted to face next. And by the looks of it, Volkanovski would love to break the winning streak of Evloev.
“Movsar is undefeated. I like the fact that he’s undefeated. He’s from the younger generation again. For the legacy, that would still mean so much,” said Volkanovski.
