Danica Patrick may have parked her NASCAR career for good, but that doesn’t mean she’s stepped away from competition. Instead of roaring down a track, she’s now making waves on the golf course, and fans are taking notice.
The former IndyCar and NASCAR driver has quietly put in the work on her swing over the past two years. She’s been training with instructor Brian Daley at Scottsdale National Golf Club in Arizona, and it’s clearly paying off. What started as a casual hobby has quickly turned into something more serious.
Patrick’s Instagram tells the story: dedication, frustration, breakthroughs, and recently, some real results.
Turning Frustration Into Fairways

Patrick admitted she didn’t start 2024 feeling confident about her golf game. Early in the year, she lost the rhythm with her driver. But something clicked about 10 days ago, and she found her groove again.
“I decided to actually learn how to play golf about 2 years ago,” Patrick wrote on Instagram. “Then I forgot how to hit my driver to start the year off… until about 10 days ago. I remembered just as mysteriously as I forgot.”

Her honesty resonated with followers. She joked about golf being a sport that punishes its most loyal players.
“Golf is a funny game… and mostly played by those who just love to be hard on themselves,” she added. “A game you will never master and repeatedly wonder—why am I doing this to myself?”
But on Thursday, the work paid off. Patrick shared a photo of herself on the course wearing an all-purple outfit, proudly noting, “240+ pin high drive again. Figuring it out, today. Iykyk.” It wasn’t just talk, her coach backed it up. Daley posted a video last month of Patrick crushing a 250-yard drive at the range, saying, “250 yard drive, new record. Insane progress the last two weeks. A whole new understanding of her golf swing.”
She might not be chasing an LPGA Tour card, but Patrick’s determination has turned heads. Whether she’s in a race car or holding a golf club, she brings the same drive, literally and figuratively.
As summer rolls on, fans can expect more golf content from the “Pretty Intense” podcast host. And judging by her progress, that content won’t just be entertaining. It’ll be impressive.
