Danica Patrick, once known for her dominance on the racetrack rather than her political views, has made a striking shift in ideology. The former NASCAR and IndyCar star, who had long stayed out of political discourse, now openly identifies as a conservative. The change, which she describes as a “tidal wave” of transformation, has sparked conversations among her fans and critics alike.
Patrick, at 42, admitted she didn’t vote for the first four decades of her life. But a pivotal experience in 2023 changed everything.
That year, she and her sister attended AmFest, a right-leaning political event in Phoenix, Arizona. The experience, she says, opened her eyes and reshaped her worldview.
A Turning Point In Phoenix

Patrick’s political evolution accelerated after attending AmFest, an event organized by Turning Point USA. “It felt like a calling,” she told former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines. “I went to my first-ever political event, which was AmFest… I didn’t even know who Charlie Kirk was.”

Following the event, she posted photos online with the simple caption: “I love this country.”

The backlash surprised her. “That was a divisive comment to so many, which was ridiculous,” she said. From there, Patrick engaged with prominent conservative figures like Tucker Carlson and Kirk, solidifying her shift.
While she once described herself as somewhere between an independent and a conservative, Patrick now embraces her political stance fully. “I guess I’m in politics now,” she said. And there’s no looking back.
