Let’s be honest, this isn’t the kind of thing you expect to hear from a motorsports icon mid-flight on Air Force One. But Danica Patrick doesn’t do predictable.
The former IndyCar star-turned-political firebrand dropped a few behind-the-scenes nuggets from her recent ride with Donald Trump after his Michigan rally. And no, this wasn’t just small talk about engines or lap times.
Patrick took to Instagram earlier this week and pulled back the curtain on a one-on-one moment that caught followers off guard.
What Trump Told Her Mid-Flight

Patrick posted on Instagram earlier this week, recounting her question to Trump during the flight. “So, I asked @realdonaldtrump on the flight home,” Patrick wrote. “What’s the most important quality for being in office?” She says Trump didn’t hesitate. “Courage,” he replied.
That answer seemed to stick with her. Patrick has been on the campaign trail with Trump throughout late 2023 and well into 2024. She’s become a visible presence at rallies, helping energize crowds and build support during his rematch campaign against Kamala Harris.

She also recounted another moment during that same flight. Trump responded to someone who brought up the post-2020 legal chaos with a peculiar mix of charm and defiance. “I love you. Who are you?” he said, before adding, “I hope they’re doing things because that election was rigged and stolen, and we can’t allow that to happen.”
Patrick hasn’t just shown support at rallies, she’s backed him during some of his more controversial decisions, too. Earlier this month, after Trump ordered a military strike in Iran, she posted her support online while many in MAGA circles hesitated. “Thank you to all that keep America safe and strong,” she wrote, alongside a photo of herself captaining a speed boat, American flag flying behind her.
The song choice in that post raised a few eyebrows. She picked “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, a classic Vietnam protest anthem. But her follow-up post erased any doubt about her loyalty. It featured an AI image of Trump dressed as a fighter pilot. “Get in! We’re making the world great again!” the caption read.
Danica Patrick isn’t just racing anymore. These days, she’s riding shotgun with Trump, and she’s not afraid to hit the gas.
