Denny Hamlin rolled into Las Vegas for the Pennzoil 400 with uncertainty surrounding his sponsorship situation. But before he even hit the track, the NASCAR veteran hit it big at the casino. On Friday night, Hamlin won a six-figure jackpot on a Buffalo slot machine, adding at least $75,000 to his bank account after taxes.
It was a timely windfall for the 44-year-old driver, whose No. 11 car has looked noticeably different this season due to a lack of a full-time primary sponsor.
With FedEx stepping away after nearly two decades, Joe Gibbs Racing has scrambled to fill the gaps, securing short-term deals with National Debt Relief and Ampm. But despite the ongoing challenges, Hamlin found a different kind of luck in Vegas.
A Jackpot Amid Sponsorship Struggles

While the unexpected casino payout provides a nice boost, Hamlin acknowledged earlier this year that sponsorship dollars aren’t flowing as easily as they once did.
“I mean, it is tough out there,” he admitted in February. “Sponsorship is hard to come by, and certainly, while it is such an important time in our sport to recognize that sponsorship dollars are not flowing like they used to.”

Despite the financial challenges, Hamlin remains competitive on the track. Currently sitting seventh in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 110 points and one top-10 finish, he’s looking to turn things around as the season progresses.
Time will tell whether Hamlin’s Las Vegas jackpot signals more good fortune or just a lucky one-off. Either way, Hamlin is leaving Sin City with a little extra cash in his pocket- something every driver can appreciate in a tightening sponsorship market.
