Adidas had a three-word message for LeBron James following the Los Angeles Lakers’ elimination from postseason play this week.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are through to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs with a 103-96 win over the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday night. While Anthony Edwards did not have that great of a game and struggled with 5-of-19 shooting from the field to score just 15 points, he grabbed 11 rebounds and made three steals in a worthy contribution.
Edwards was the biggest threat to the Lakers during the series, and did just enough to get them over the line in a gentleman’s sweep.

James, on the other hand, finally looked his age as he struggled to maintain the intensity over four quarters, having to battle the T-Wolves’ big men while the Lakers tried to make the most of their lack of a center. The four-time MVP scored 22 points, adding seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert had his way in the post, registering 27 points, 24 rebounds, and two blocks.

Edwards had plenty for the Lakers and their fans after the game, taking a victory lap around his opponents’ arena. Adidas joined him in trolling the Purple and Gold, taking to X to post a photo of the Timberwolves guard, captioning it “The King Slayer.”

This is, of course, a direct shot at LeBron, who spurned them for Nike before getting drafted in 2003 and is nicknamed “King James.”
LeBron, who was just 18 then, signed a seven-year deal worth $87 million with the sportswear brand amid interest from Adidas and Reebok, with the latter reportedly offering him as much as $100 million.
He has gone on to lock in a lifetime deal worth over $1 billion.
Edwards, meanwhile, secured a deal with Adidas. He signed an extension last year that pays him a reported $10 million a year.
