The Dallas Mavericks’ bold midseason trade for Anthony Davis, which saw them send young superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, is now looking like a costly mistake. Davis was expected to be the new face of the franchise. But he suffered a devastating injury in his very first game with Dallas. Since then, he has missed every single game.
NBA insider Shams Charania recently revealed that Davis and his representatives are now considering shutting him down for the remainder of the season after Kyrie Irving’s season-ending injury.
ESPN’s Tim MacMahon weighed in on the matter on NBA Today. He revealed that there are voices within the Mavericks’ front office pushing for Davis to sit out. However, according to MacMahon, Davis himself is not on board with that idea.
“There are people who’d rather shut him down for the season. AD’s not trying to hear all of that,” MacMahon said.
“AD IS NOT TRYING TO HEAR THAT.”

The Mavericks are currently holding a 33-37 record and are struggling to stay in playoff contention. Davis, however, remains determined to make a comeback and help the team make a late-season push.
