The woes seem to be getting worse for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Especially for Anthony Edwards. With a 124-94 drubbing, the Timberwolves had to bid adieu to their championship hopes for this season. And while the loss is certainly stinging them significantly, Converse decided to add some more salt to the fresh wounds of Edwards.
As soon as the final whistle sounded, Converse took to their X handle to upload a video. The clip showed an ant climbing upon the imprint of a sneaker. Now, it is pretty much clear that this was a reference to Anthony Edwards’ nickname, ‘Ant.’ They also put in a caption that further trolled the Timberwolves’ star.
“Not hard 2 believe. [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander] is headed to the Finals,” read the post from Converse.

For the uninitiated, Converse is associated with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Looking to make the most of the NBA MVP’s fame, the shoe company made a big investment on the Thunder’s star last year. Signing him to a multi-year deal, the CEO of the company seemed utterly elated to have SGA. Meanwhile, having reached the NBA finals, Gilgeous-Alexander recently shut down his haters.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Shrugs Off ‘Free Throw Merchant’ Label

Gilgeous-Alexander has been one of the biggest stars this season. With some scintillating play gifted by him, SGA is also accused of being a ‘free throw merchant.’ This is because of his ability to draw fouls with his impeccable mid-range game. However, the NBA MVP does not seem to care much about all these. After dropping 40 points in the Game 4 of the conference finals, Gilgeous-Alexander shrugged off the hate.

“In terms of the label, I don’t care, never cared. I’ve shot more free throws than I did this season. Because we’re on the top of people’s radar, it’s a little more noticeable… kind of see it as a compliment,” Gilgeous-Alexander stated.
