The Minnesota Timberwolves’ championship hopes came to an end last season after falling short against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals. The Timberwolves are nowentering the new postseason with renewed focus. After a strong finish to the regular season, Anthony Edwards and his squad are now preparing for a challenging first-round game against the third-seeded Los Angeles Lakers.
Though Minnesota secured the sixth seed, the spotlight hasn’t quite landed on them. Much of the media buzz has revolved around their upcoming opponent.
In a recent press session, Edwards was asked whether he minds the media’s focus leaning heavily toward the Lakers. In response, Edwards jokingly said that the media doesn’t want his team to win their upcoming playoff series and he’s absolutely loving it.
“Yea I just love it, it’s dope. I love the fact that everybody wants the lakers to win. That’s how it’s supposed to be, they don’t want the Timberwolves to win. I get it,” Edwards said.

The Lakers have become the center of attention, especially after acquiring Luka Doncic in a blockbuster trade back in February. Since then, Los Angeles has dominated the spotlight. The team finished the regular season as the NBA’s top-selling franchise in merchandise, and Doncic’s No. 77 jersey emerged as the league’s most purchased for this season.

During the media session, Edwards addressed his tendency to rack up technical fouls this season. When asked if that fiery streak might carry over into the postseason, he vowed to remain “super quiet.”
“Yeah I won’t get no techs. I won’t say anything, I’m going to stay super quiet. One hundred percent,” Edwards said.
The star guard was dangerously close to sitting out Minnesota’s season finale after receiving his 18th technical foul of the year. Had it stood, league rules would have forced Edwards to serve a one-game suspension. Fortunately for the Timberwolves, the NBA reviewed the call and rescinded the foul. It allowed him to take the court and help his team close out the regular season and secure a ticket to the playoffs.
