The Boston Celtics will be looking to make a strong comeback in the coming season. With a lot of expectations from the team this year, the Celtics failed to fulfill them. Although they did reach the playoffs, the championship dreams remained elusive. Adding to their woes, the team faces major uncertainty over its roster.
Jayson Tatum is at the helm of the issue. Tatum is unsure if he can recover quickly after having torn his ACL. Thankfully, Celtics GM Brad Stevens shared some good news with the fans.
In a recent update, Brad Stevens reflected on the roster for the next season. He pointed out that amid uncertainties, there will be some stability with the core. Stevens pointed out that Tatum, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, and Payton Pritchard would be retained.
“We’ve got the foundation, with Jaylen and Jayson [Tatum] and D-White and Payton [Pritchard], and all those guys that a lot of teams would love to have,” said Stevens.
Asked Brad Stevens, amid the uncertainty, what he does expect from next year’s roster:

Surely, the Celtics fans would be relieved after hearing the statement. Over the past couple of days, the franchise traded Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday. Thus, with a steady core, the team is expected to perform well in the next season. Meanwhile, a lot has been going on with the Celtics’ roster.

The Boston Celtics have a projected payroll of $493 million. This has led them to shed a big chunk as luxury taxes. Thus, the front office is looking to inflict significant cost cutting. And the very first step they took in that direction was trading Jrue Holiday. In return for Holiday, the Celtics received Anfernee Simons from the Portland Trailblazers.
