In this recent trade, Bane was sent to the Magic in exchange for players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony, along with a treasure trove of draft picks.
Among those picks are the 16th overall selection in the upcoming 2025 NBA draft and several future first-rounders. And this could give the Grizzlies the chance to build a stronger team around Morant and Jackson.

Ja Morant Sends Supportive Message To Desmond Bane Post Trade

The 2025 NBA offseason is going to be historic. With Desmond Bane off to the Magic, the Grizzlies are still catching their breath.
This deal dismantled the Grizzlies’ core trio of Ja Morant, Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr., who had led the team to four playoff appearances but only one series victory. With Bane now in Orlando, the Grizzlies are focusing on draft assets to build around Morant and Jackson.
Morant expressed his feelings about Bane’s departure on social media. He shared a photo and posted a supportive message, indicating their strong bond despite the trade.

Over their five years together, Morant and Bane formed a highly effective backcourt. Their collaboration helped the Grizzlies reach the second seed in the Western Conference for two consecutive seasons.
Bane’s exit has fueled speculation regarding Morant’s future in Memphis, too.
