The Los Angeles Lakers fell flat against the Milwaukee Bucks, ending with a score of 118-89. This loss brought the Lakers’ season record to 43-26, while the Bucks improved to 39-30.
One bright spot for the Lakers was rookie Bronny James, who stepped up in their absence. He played 30 minutes off the bench and scored a career-high 17 points. Additionally, he shot an impressive 70% from the floor (7-for-10) and connected on 2 of his 4 attempts from beyond the arc.
In addition to his scoring, he contributed five assists, three rebounds, and one block. With this performance, he became the youngest Lakers rookie to achieve such numbers since Magic Johnson in 1979.

This accomplishment is particularly meaningful as Johnson is one of the most revered figures in Lakers’ history. Despite the loss, Bronny’s standout performance and the exposure he received on the court during this tough game offer a positive sign for the team’s future.

Bronny James really shined against all odds during the Bucks game, putting together the best performance of his young career. Coming off the bench but getting significant playing time, 30 minutes to be exact, he tallied a career-high 17 points.
The Lakers were without some of their star players LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves—so head coach JJ Redick had to rely on 10 different players. Even though the team lost 118-89, Bronny’s performance gave fans a glimpse of the talent he has.
In his postgame press conference, Redick shared his thoughts on Bronny’s potential in the NBA. He highlighted the importance of conditioning for Bronny as he continues to develop.
“The next step, I think, is becoming an elite conditioned athlete because when he does that with his physical tools, just his burst, his handle, he’s going to be an above-average to really good NBA shooter. He’s gonna have a chance to really make a real impact,” Redick said after the game.

After 22 games, Bronny is averaging 2.3 points, 0.6 assists, and 0.6 rebounds in about 5.8 minutes per game. But if we look at his stats per 36 minutes, they show a much brighter picture: 14.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds.
Fans can expect to see Bronny on the court a lot more when the Lakers take on the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, especially if LeBron, Doncic, and Reaves are still out.
