Charles Barkley had a clear earnings message for the Indiana Pacers after their blowout loss in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals. With the Knicks dominating from start to end in an 11-94 victory, the TNT analyst issued a blunt statement ahead of Saturday’s Game 6. For him, the Pacers can’t afford to let this series return to Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks were down 3-1 before game 5, came out firing, and never trailed. Pacers’ starters looked weak, combining for just 37 points. Tyrese Haliburton, a consistent strong presence in the Pacers’ depth, had a brilliant game four performance, but was a non-factor with only 8 points and six assists.
Barkley clarified that Game 6 is now do-or-die for the Pacers. “It is a must-win for the Pacers. If they come back here, they’re gonna get another ass-kicking like they had tonight,” he said. Barkley elaborated on the need for pace and urgency, adding, “The Indiana Pacers can’t play slow.”

Game 6 is set for Saturday night in Indianapolis, but Barkley’s tone made it feel more like a Game 7. With the series winner heading to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA finals, the Pacers must close it out or risk losing it all on the road.

During the postgame interview, Barkley asked why he keeps committing “dumb fouls,” with Shaquille O’Neal chiming in. Towns admitted he needs to improve, particularly with the team’s season on the line. “God only knows,” Towns replied, being struck by the question.

Despite the critique, Barkley praised Towns for consistently scoring alongside Jalen Brunson. The duo made history, joining elite company with five straight 20-point games in the finals. For game 6, Towns must stay on the court.
