Chet Holmgren is more than just a role player in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s depth. He was one of the biggest reasons the Thunder are NBA champions for the first time since 1979. In his first full season, the seven-footer made a massive impact on both ends of the court during the playoffs and delivered when it mattered the most.
A former Gonzaga standout, Holmgren became the first Zag to play a key role in an NBA title run. While Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander carried the scoring load, Holmgren brought defensive toughness and versatility. “He was everywhere, blocking shots, rotating, and switching on guards. He’s amazing, and there’s so much more room to grow, ” Gilgeous-Alexander said.
