When it comes to the Chicago Bulls’ face of the franchise, there are some of the most obvious names that pop up.
Some might argue that it better be Josh Giddey and Coby White for the tag, but all of those guesses will go in vain. According to the Bulls insider KC Johnson from the Chicago Sports Network, Matas Buzelis is the new face of the franchise.
“One takeaway I want to add about the draft, have you seen the Bulls’ social media account? Who’s been marching around? Matas Buzelis. He is becoming the face of the franchise. This is no knock on Josh Giddey or Coby White who obviously are much more accomplished at the NBA level. But Matas obviously being based here and becoming very media friendly… he’s been marching these guys around and participating quite a bit in the social media aspect. That’s the future right there,” Johnson said.

However, he’s not wrong, though. The young Buzelis has had a couple of good outings that have made him recognizable in the Windy City. Matas reportedly featured in events like the Rising Stars Challenge and the Slam Dunk Contest. And all of that is paying him back.

The Bulls are currently in a rebuilding phase as they traded several key players from their previous playoff roster. The Bulls sent Lonzo Ball to Cleveland, and there are expectations that Nikola Vucevic and Coby White could follow suit.
Now, the only player viewed as the next big star for the franchise is Buzelis. The Bulls drafted him as a first-round pick in 2024, and he had an impressive rookie season.
However, the situation could shift dramatically if the right player becomes available. Giannis Antetokounmpo, a superstar with the Milwaukee Bucks, finds himself at a pivotal moment in his career. With the recent exit of Damian Lillard from the Bucks, there is speculation that Giannis could seek a trade.
While the Bulls are not a likely destination in most scenarios, Antetokounmpo has expressed interest in possibly playing for Chicago. The Greek Freak appears to be fond of Buzelis and Ayo Dosunmu, as his recent Instagram comment has gone viral.
