The Dallas Mavericks had quite a sombre season this year. They traded their best star athlete in Luka Doncic. And while they did acquire Anthony Davis, things did not turn out well for the team. Coming into the side with a lot of expectations, Davis succumbed to an injury that kept him out of game time. With the fans lashing out for the Doncic trade, the team failed to put up a good show on the court. However, right before the start of the next season, the Mavericks are looking to bounce back. With Cooper Flagg coming into the side, conspiracy theories are going wild. Flagg, however, reportedly has no idea about the rumors.
It was quite a shocker when the Dallas Mavericks landed up with the No. 1 draft pick. The odds of the Mavericks getting lucky were quite low. But when the news came out, the hoops realm suspected foul play. Rumors immediately spread about whether the NBA deliberately awarded the number 1 pick to the Mavericks to make up for the Doncic trade or not. Reflecting on the same, Cooper Flagg shrugged off the conspiracy theories. He stated that he was lucky to be a part of the Mavericks franchise and would like to give his best.
“I don’t know what to say about that, I have no insider information if that’s what you’re looking for, but I just feel blessed for the way it all worked out,” said Flagg.

Not only Flagg but also the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, denied the conspiracy theories. He pointed out that he was unaware of the Luka Doncic trade. Silver claimed to have gotten the news at the exact moment Shams Charania posted on his X handle. Meanwhile, as the Flagg fever swept the NBA, Kendrick Perkins made a wild statement.

“This is how I look at Cooper Flagg. If LeBron James and Kevin Garnett had a baby, you’d get Cooper Flagg. When you think about LeBron James, you think of a complete basketball player. He led the team in everything. That’s a LeBron James type of thing,” Perkins said.

While Perkins might have intended his words in a good light, fans did not take it well. They felt it was too much of a stretch to compare Flagg to the legends this early. Now, with things shaping up for the Mavericks, it remains to be seen what happens next.
