Cooper Flagg was just minutes into the Dallas Mavericks when the team showed they were more than ready for him.
After selecting Flagg as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, the team announced that he’ll be rocking the No. 32 jersey in his professional career. As surprising as it sounds, especially since Flagg wore No. 2 while playing for the Duke Blue Devils last season.
But the Mavs were already fully prepared to draft the young prospect. Soon after the pick, photos went viral on the internet showing a 32-numbered Flagg named jersey already hanging in there.
Fans on social media were in a frenzy when they discovered it and doubted that Dallas already had them prepared. Picked, printed, and ready to be dispatched.

However, there’s an interesting tale behind his jersey number. Flagg wore No. 32 in high school because it was his mother’s jersey number when she played basketball. It’s clear that this number means a lot to him.
He actually wanted to wear No. 32 at Duke, but it was retired in honor of Christian Laettner, who also wore it during his single season with the Mavericks back in 2000.

Now, to kick things off, the Mavericks are already selling his jerseys at a watch party at the American Airlines Center. They’ve got 3,000 jerseys available, and it’ll be interesting to see how many fans grab one during his rookie season.
