Dalton Knecht’s NBA journey began as the 17th overall pick in last year’s draft. As a rookie, Knecht has had the unique privilege of learning firsthand from LeBron James, who continues to redefine longevity in professional basketball.
While LeBron is in the twilight years of his storied career, Knecht isn’t convinced the King is slowing down anytime soon. In a recent interview with TMZ, the young Lakers guard shared an optimistic vision of playing alongside James for years to come.
“He said he can play another 5, 10 years. So, me and ‘Bron could run it for another five, 10 years. Why not?!” Knecht said.

Interestingly, Knecht’s future with the Lakers almost took a detour midseason. Los Angeles reportedly considered trading him in a deal to fill their void at the center position with Charlotte Hornets big man Mark Williams.
However, the trade fell through after Williams failed his physical. Now, with his spot secure and confidence high, Knecht looks forward to growing his role alongside a legend.

In a recent episode of “Buha’s Block,” NBA insider Jovan Buha offered a candid prediction about Dalton Knecht’s role in the upcoming season with the Lakers. While Knecht showed promise as a rookie, Buha suggested the young guard may not have a significant role in the Lakers’ rotation moving forward.
“Basically, it comes down to the Lakers only having so many assets to trade, and Dalton Knecht, I think, at best next season is an eighth man and probably is an eighth, ninth man. And when thinking about the Lakers trying to get a starting center or a starting wing, you need to give something up to get that player,” Buha said.
In his first year with the team, Knecht played 78 regular season games. He averaged 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. Let’s see what lies ahead for the Lakers’ young star.
