Damian Lillard suffered a ruptured left Achilles during Game 4 of the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff series against the Indiana Pacers. After his injury, the franchise appeared to lose confidence in his future contributions. After two seasons with him, the Bucks chose to waive Lillard.
Following the announcement, an Instagram post by Courtside Buzz cited a report by NBA insider Chris Haynes. According to the report, the Bucks denied Lillard’s personal request to return to Portland during his rehab so he could be with his children.
However, Lillard took to social media to address the report directly. He commented under the post, suggesting that Haynes’ account may not have been entirely accurate.
“They did approve it tho,” Lillard wrote.

Due to the severity of the injury, Lillard might miss a significant portion of the upcoming season. However, his financial future remains intact. Even after the waiver, he will still receive the full $112.6 million remaining on his contract, which is spread over the next five years.

The Adidas Dame X comes with a standout feature but with a retail price of just $95. Damian Lillard made a deliberate choice to keep his latest model accessible. According to Lillard, this decision is deeply rooted in his personal mission to give back to the communities that shaped him.
“Having a quality shoe under $100 – I’ll say that’s the number one thing for me as I’ve gotten older and wanting to have an impact in the community. Making my shoe accessible to people that come from a background like me… that means a lot to me,” Lillard said.
Signature sneakers from NBA stars often climb well into the $150-$200 range. Hence, Lillard’s decision to keep the Dame X below the $100 mark is a rare and welcome shift.
