New Orleans Pelicans’ star, Dejounte Murray is not having a great time after all. After being traded from the San Antonio Spurs, Murray hoped for a new beginning with the Pelicans. But Murray was unhappy right from the start. He pointed out that the Pelicans were not the team the Spurs were having their initial discussions with. And soon, his stay with the franchise turned into a nightmare.
Speaking on ‘The Pivot’ podcast, Murray opened up about his horrific experience. He stated that in the very first year, Murray broke his hand. Next up, he was ravaged by a swarm of personal problems. First up, the NBA star’s mother suffered from a stroke. And before recovering from the shock, Murray had his uncle overdosing, while his cousin got killed. And if this was not enough, he also tore his ACL mid-season.
“Such & such got fired, another guy left, they brought new people in. I got all these problems going on. I broke my hand, I recover, my mom has a stroke. My cousin got killed. My uncle overdosed. Back to back, to back. In all this, I’m not getting what I need from the organization… you can only imagine where my mental was at. I’m stressed. Mad every day. I’m sad, I’m angry, I don’t want to be there… it’s crazy, the day I tore my Achilles, all this stuff is just wearing on me,” said Murray.

Surely, this was one of the worst seasons that an NBA athlete could have. Now then, trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel, Dejounte Murray is looking to make a fast recovery. But can he make it in time for a 2025-26 comeback?

Murray missed 17 games due to a fractured hand. Unfortunately, he returned only to have his ACL torn in late January. Now, typically, an ACL takes a significant amount of time to heal. Thus, there are some serious question marks as to when Murray can make a comeback. However, in a recently uploaded video, the NBA star could be spotted walking without assistance.
