DeMarcus Cousins recently shared an experience about the 2018-19 Golden State Warriors. On the ‘Run Your Race’ podcast, Cousins said the Warriors were confident during their peak. He explained that Golden State often showed up for the pregame warm-ups with only a few minutes left before tip-off.
Podcast host Theo Pinson noted that most start with a warm-up with about 20 minutes left on the clock. But Cousins said they were jogging out with just 10, eight, or even six minutes remaining for the game.
“Man, it was so bad, bro,” Cousins said. “Steve used to be like, ‘Man, y’all are being disrespectful.’ There were times we went out there with six minutes on the clock. Steve’s like, ‘Man, you guys got to show some type of respect.’ We used to come like 10 on the clock, eight on the clock.”

The team had stars like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, and DeMarcus Cousins. The roster was stacked with plenty of talent and confident big men. But head coach Steve Kerr expected more. He believed in professionalism and held them accountable for directing the team correctly, no matter how much they were winning.
