The Philadelphia 76ers have been languishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. With just 26 wins, the 76ers have lost 46 games! Surely, such a record has almost made the team go out of the playoff contention. Unfortunately, this was not how the Philadelphia 76ers thought things would pan out this season. After all, this was one of the biggest chances for the 76ers to have a fantastic season. They were even touted as one of the championship prospects this year.
But that was not to be. With an enviable starting 5, injuries wreaked havoc on the team. Take their initial starting five for example. The 76ers were supposed to start with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Paul George, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Caleb Martin. Now, one look at the lineup will instantly tell that it is one of the strongest in the NBA.
Before the season began, the consensus was that the Philadelphia 76ers were a top-5 team in the East with their projected starting lineup:

However, with season-ending injuries, the team’s depleted status really paints a sorry picture. Playing against the Thunder on March 19, the 76ers’ starting five consisted of Guerschon Yabusele, Quentin Grimes, Jared Butler, Justin Edwards, and Oshae Brissett. Meanwhile, with so many young players missing, the team is facing scrutiny from the NBA.
NBA To Investigate The Philadelphia 76ers

The NBA is suspecting that the Philadelphia 76ers might be keeping their players from playing purposefully. In a recent update, the NBA is said to probably be launching an investigation against the 76ers. Previously, they have already fined a hefty amount of $100,000 from the Utah Jazz for keeping Lauri Markkanen out of the action.
With the threat looming large on the 76ers, Shams Charania said,

“I’m told the Philadelphia 76ers are another team the NBA has started an investigation on and looked into. Just based on, you’ve had Tyrese Maxey miss time, we know Paul George has missed time.”
