ESPN’s Doris Burke is not happy with Kawhi Leonard. Her anger stems from the Clippers’ decision to rest Kawhi Leonard for Wednesday night’s matchup against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks at Staples Center.
Not only because it’s the marquee game on ESPN, but because he won’t play against the reigning MVP, but will play against Portland, a game that will be on TNT.
“It’s mind boggling to me that Kawhi doesn’t want to play against the reigning MVP and he’d rather play against Portland the next day. Kawhi not playing is ridiculous at this point. The league should be concerned that their best players are not playing on national television.”
Load management is becoming more and more prevalent for players who have dealt with recent injuries and will likely be continued to get used for years to come. It sucks for national televised games as well for fans who purchase tickets to come out to see the best of the best play.
In his six appearances this season, the 28-year-old Leonard is averaging 29.3 points on 47.4 percent shooting from the field to go along with 7.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.3 steals and a block.
