Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors suffered a tough defeat in the Western Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The loss was even more difficult for Green, who had an unfortunate off-court incident. During warmups, he had an altercation with a Minnesota fan who allegedly directed a racial slur at him. Green responded verbally, and tensions escalated.
Security eventually removed the fan from the arena, but the incident cast a negative light on the Timberwolves’ fanbase during such a high-stakes game.
Recently, the Warriors star opened up about the experience, particularly addressing the racial abuse he faced at the Target Center.
“There were some racist things said in Minnesota. I also don’t like giving these nobodies moments to feel like they’re somebody — you know what I’m saying? So yeah, there were some racist things said. It ain’t the first time. You get in these environments, and racist things are said,” Green said.
Draymond noted that despite his reputation for ignoring courtside hecklers, the blatant racism he experienced forced him to speak out. He specifically referenced an incident during Game 2. Following the exchange, the Timberwolves launched an investigation.

Although the Timberwolves issued an apology after the event, Green criticized the lack of accountability, asserting that fans should face penalties to those imposed on players for misconduct.
Minnesota Launched An Investigation After Draymond Green’s Altercation With Fan

The Minnesota Timberwolves launched an investigation after an upsetting incident involving their fans making “racially charged” comments toward Draymond Green.

The team is continuing to look into the situation to figure out who that second individual is.
The Timberwolves made it clear that they are committed to creating a welcoming and respectful environment for everyone. They stated that “racist, hateful or threatening behavior has no place at our games or in our community.”
After the game, Draymond Green expressed his frustration in a press conference, feeling that there is an unfair “agenda” against him. He also bashed around the stereotype of the “angry Black man.”
He emphasized his achievements and character, saying he doesn’t fit into that stereotype.
