Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has offered an explanation for stomping on a Sacramento Kings player during Game 2 of the first-round playoff series between the two Western Conference sides.
The defending champions are down 2-0 after losing 114-106 on Monday night, a position they haven’t been in since 2007. And they were made to finish last night’s game bereft of their on-floor leader after he was ejected in the fourth quarter.
Green got tangled up with Kings center Domantas Sabonis during said period after the grounded Lithuanian grabbed his leg and was hit with a flagrant 2 for stomping on the latter’s chest, with Sabonis receiving a technical.
The four-time NBA champion spoke to reporters after the game, explaining his leg was grabbed while he was trying to get to the other end of the court.
“My leg got grabbed,” he pointed out. “Second time in two nights. I had to land my foot somewhere and I’m not the most flexible person so it’s not going to stretch that far.”
Draymond also said he was told he stomped too hard.
The NBA could issue further punishment after a review, which means Draymond might not be available for Game 3 on Thursday night.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
