Dwyane Wade recendly discussed the wild a**-eating quote that had him paraded as the butt of jokes online back in 2017.
Wade, a three-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat, is now a minority owner of the Utah Jazz, having retired after the 2018/19 season.
Social media wouldn’t let him walk away from the game without making him the unwitting victim of a fake quote, but the former shooting guard did find it funny.
Fake NBA-related quotes were a bit of a novelty back then, given that there was no NBA Centel or Ballsack Sports, so people ran with it after a graphic of Wade supposedly claiming that he got to go home and have his wife eat his butt every night amid a torrid season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Wade had briefly reunited with LeBron James in Cleveland and was playing for the Cavs when the quote came out.
“So we’re making fake quotes up now. Oh wait that’s what everyone does nowadays. Carry on with the tomfoolery,” he said in response.

Dwyane Wade Says He Didn’t Take The Quote Seriously

Wade was a guest on ‘Pardon My Take’ this Friday and addressed the above, admitting it made him laugh.
“I wouldn’t be who I am today if I really took it seriously,” he said. “It’s cool, it came out of nowhere. It definitely was a crazy take and people ran with it.”
The former Heat superstar also suggested that no one would ever know if something like that were to happen.
“Listen,” he continued. “I like to laugh, it was funny. It was a little crazy. But you know what? Ha ha ha. If my wife decided to do it, then she decided to do it. Leave what we do inside of our private home private.”
It’s as simple as that.
